Breadnut Valley Falls

The summer is hot and the best place to cool off in the summertime is by the river, and we are going to reveal one of our best kept secrets. Now Breadnut Valley Falls known to locals as Maggotty Falls is a hidden treasure nestled in the cool and yet somewhat humid valley of Maggotty, St. Elizabeth.

Breadnut Valley Falls is not as magnificent as it once was, due, in part to the Jamaica Public Service re - energizing it's hydroplant and the continuous drought that the country has been undergoing. They have used a lot of over-sized pipes to channel the water from the river to the plant. Unless, we have an extremely heavy downpour of rain, the falls doesn't reflect the true beauty that it once had. There is a decent sized picnic area as well as sections of the river that can be traversed during a river walk.

The journey is not for the faint of heart no matter which route you decide to take to get to the falls. There are several routes to take to get to Breadnut Valley Falls, however, the easiest way to get there is to visit the JPSCo. hydroplant in Maggotty and make the left turn upon approaching the gate to the hydroplant.

If you are looking for a quiet zen like location where you can be one with nature, then, this hidden treasure is just what you need...
