Mountain Valley Rafting at Lethe

How many of us have seen those beautiful "Visit Jamaica" advertisements that show couples rafting on the Rio Grande River? Very romantic right? Recently, I have seen persons rafting on the Martha Brae River. Well, I decided to be a little different. Guess where I went? My family and I went Mountain Valley rafting on the Great River in Lethe.

Words can't describe the wonderful experience that we had at Lethe. I must give special big ups to Real Tours Jamaica Ltd. for giving me access to this hidden treasure. Our journey began in Trelawney, and we headed through the hills of St. James until we got to the district of Lethe (Lethe is approximately 20 mins from Montego Bay). After travelling on the narrow and winding heavily vegetated interior roads into the mountains of St. James we finally got to our destination.

We were met at the recreation area by our raft guides Chris aka Killer and Orlando. They are two (2) of the most humble and jovial souls that I have ever met. We were led to two (2) beautifully decorated rafts, after we were seated, we started our tranquil journey down river. Going down river we stopped for Chris and Orlando to pick coconuts for us and then we were piloted through paradise. Our knowledgeable guides highlighted us to benefits of the lush vegetation that surrounded us. They were almost poetic in their narrative.

After rafting a while, the raft captains pulled alongside the shore and docked the rafts. We were then treated to an exfoliating limestone scrub on our hands and feet (these are referred to as Jungle Socks and Gloves), whilst waiting on our "gloves and socks" to dry Chris and Orlando cut bamboo straws and chopped our coconuts for us. We sipped our coconut water through bamboo straws. Awesome!

We lazed about for a bit, then sailed down river to take a semi dip and to "leaf" wash off the "jungle socks and gloves", before heading back upstream. Chris and Orlando were so awesome that they allowed us to be raft captains for a while. The journey back was peaceful and relaxing, it was so sad when we had to leave.
My feet looked like Princess Fiona's in Shrek

Make Mountain Valley Rafting as part of your bucket list. It is a trip of a lifetime, absolutely hassle free, relaxing and totally zen. It is the epitome of Zen!!!
