The Inaugural Launch of the Conch & Crab Festival

Sunday May 15, 2016 was a day to remember. It was the inaugural launch of the Conch and Crab Festival held on the grounds of the Milk River Bath & Spa.The event was held in conjunction with the SDC (Social Development Commission), The CPC (Clarendon Parish Council) and the Milk River Tourism Development Organization). What a day it was! Regardless of fighting the flu I had to pass through the place.

The menu had a wide variety of items such as Conch, Crab, Lobster, Shrimp, Fish, Jerk Chicken, Bammy, Festival, Soup, and best of all Snow Cone. There was some good old hits playing, which created a very tasteful family atmosphere, I would go again.

Another highlight, was the booths, we were introduced to the honey making process and bee keeping, sugar cane and its many bi - products such as cane juice, wet sugar, cane roots wine, and sugar head just to name a few. The crochet industry, free and confidential HIV & Syphilis testing and the bamboo industry and it bi products such as lumber, fabric, paper and bamboo charcoal (it is said to burn twice as hot as regular charcoal, very renewable and last thrice as long as the regular charcoal, hence, less is used).

It had quite a turnout, however, most persons were in the baths, waiting for an available one or were in the swimming pool. I only spent 1 1/2hrs, as it got later more patrons turned up; today was race day at Vernamfield, and on our way back home several patrons were seen making their way from Vernamfield to Milk River Bath & Spa.
