Island Passport: Booby Cay, Negril

Booby Cay is a small island off the coast of Negril, that mesmerizes one with its white sand beach and lush vegetation. If you are in Negril it should be on your bucket list of places to go. The island got its name from the Booby birds who use it as a breeding ground.

The island has its fair claim on fame with the production of Jules Vernes film 20000 Leagues Under The Sea, which was filmed there. The island is best suited for picnics, building sand castles, playing volleyball, scuba diving and snorkeling. Many hotels in and around Negril will happily arrange a trip for one to go there.

There is access to the property 24 hours daily and one will find sunbathers, photographers, snorkelers etc. just having a grand ole time. Some persons will spend a few hours, half a day or an entire day here. Another draw to the island is fresh grilled lobster, which can be purchased for a small fee.

The island is laid back, peaceful, tranquil and suited for persons who want to just have a lazy day away from the maddening crowd. Have fun, I know we did!!!
